Who made these tracks? The Answer!

Moose tracks in snow

Here's another riddle for you: Who made these tracks?

Obviously it was some sort of deer -- the biggest deer of them all, actually: a moose.

Moose in water near Eagle River Alaska

If you live in moose country, you can encounter these massive animals on the trail year-round -- but encounters are even more likely during winter, as deep snow drives moose closer to cities and into the same relatively accessible areas that make for attractive winter hiking.

Like most self-respecting animals, moose usually don't want anything to do with us humans. But they may not have much of a choice in poor weather or deep snows, so please read up on moose safety so you'll know what to do if you encounter one.
